Entering Grades 8-10
Ranch Camp offers a horse pack trip for our horse-crazy campers who have spent at least one summer with us in the EQ Program and who are entering grades 8-10. On this amazing trip, you will combine horsemanship skills with the beauty of a wilderness experience. Not only will you be able to utilize the skills you have learned in the EQ Program, but you will also be able to add many horsemanship and camping skills that are important for any equestrian.
We spend several days getting to know our group and preparing on-site with our trip guides. Preparation includes both arena and trail riding to refresh and cement skills needed for the trip. You will also learn the basics of outdoor cooking, campsite preparation, packing, gear checks, etc. There will also be time to get in a some great camp activities such as swimming and the challenge course as well!
Your first Shabbat will be spent among the camp community, enjoying our outdoor services, dancing, singing and spending time with the whole Ranch Camp family. Pack N Ride campers will depart on a day long community service project before leaving for their trip. This project is most often aimed at working at a therapeutic riding center to improve their facility and to learn about these amazing programs and what they offer to kids and adults around the world.
Then comes time for the big adventure heading up to northern Colorado to meet up with our outfitter and pack guides! 6 days will be spent riding, exploring and camping in the beautiful mountains of Colorado! Led by professional pack guides, Pack N Ride participants and their Ranch Camp guides will have the horse experience of a life time! When the trip is coming to an end and everyone dismounts for the final time, we will all head to a well deserved trip at the local hot springs. Finally, we return to Ranch Camp to celebrate the final Shabbat of the session, sneak in some final camp activities and say farewell to some truly wonderful friends and staff!
