Do I need any prior experience to join?

No. All levels of campers are welcome to participate on our trip camps. We recommend taking a few weeks prior to the start of trip camps to get out and exercise, break in our backpack and hiking boots and, if you are on Rock ‘n Ride, cruise around to get warmed up for an amazing experience!

Should I pack any extra gear?

As a Trip Camper you will need to bring additional gear to camp.  A detailed trips packing list of what gear you will need for the trip will be included in the Parent’s Manual Packing List.  Rock n Ride has a few specific items related to proper bike clothing and a Camelback type water carrier.  We do provide bikes and helmets, though you are welcome to bring your own with prior approval.

What is the food like?

Trip camping participants will cook their own meals as a group using camp stoves under the supervision of staff.  Examples of common meals are: pasta w/sauce, burritos, pita and hummus, tuna sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly, quinoa, and quesadillas. All food is Kosher.

How can I be in touch with my camper/family?

Most places our trip camps  visit are fairly remote so cell service is not reliable (campers are not allowed cell phones) so staff check in daily with camp via satellite phones. Parents will receive notes via email from Ranch Camp updating on progress and any changes to the itinerary. Parents can send letters, which will be collected at camp for campers to receive upon arrival back to camp. Campers can send letters before and after the trip from Ranch Camp.

What if I have food or environmental allergies? Or take medication?

Our trip staff can accommodate most allergies.  If an epipen is needed, a staff member will carry this at all times. Our staff are certified to give medications and we can accommodate most types of medications. If you have any questions, please ask!
